Reducing Waste
Waste reduction has been a significant focus area at Avikro since 2015 and many
improvements have been made at our sites which have led to significant achievements. Since
2015, we have successfully reduced our waste per ton of product by nearly 40%.
Waste reduction is one of our main environmental indicators, with zero waste to landfill being
one of our key ambitions for 2022. In 2021, total waste volume and waste per ton of
production generated decreased by (1)% and increased by 1% respectively. Recent acquisitions
had a detrimental effect of 1%.
We produce a minimal amount of solid waste. The waste we do produce is frequently
repurposed as sellable product. In addition, our production processes generate limited
hazardous waste.
Water plays an important role in our production processes and site maintenance. Our
approach to water use focuses on three main objectives, minimizing the consumption of fresh
water, ensuring clean water to watersheds and addressing real-time community water
concerns.
